For professional looking shots i use my PANASONIC AG-DVX100Bp.
This camera is handy and just perfect under almost any conditions. Most of the time i use it with my tripod, but i could still be manipulating it easy right at fist for it is not as heavy as a betacam.
Check out the DVX100Bp's spec sheets for more infos about it.
For more than 4 years now, i'm working with FINAL CUT PRO, by Apple, for most of my editing jobs. I'm running version 4.5 HD. FINAL CUT PRO 4.5 allows me to easily capture or import HD, 24p or 16:9 or footage and still be able to work a master tape out of it.
The final print can be output on miniDV tape or on DVD. The master print on DVD is to be designed with Apple's DVD STUDIO PRO 3, which gives a nice professional look and use to your project.
For my special FX and compositing, when needed, i work with Apple's SHAKE. It's powerful features enable you to design the most complex and seemless compositing FX within your project.
Otherwise, for live events, when interactive media and video are the thing you need, i'd rather work with more organic and intuitive modular ISADORA. Its functions let me build complex interactive settings in order to be able to create live intertwined ambiant video mixing and FX. Ideal for Dance performances, theatre or venue events.
